We've hit rock bottom. We've resorted to cashing in our emergency coin fund for the road trip. We took it into a Coin Star today and....
$63!
There would have been more but we sometimes used to dip into the coins to go to Taco Bell. Billy's crying right now because I'm updating the blog instead of packing. Wah wah.
Ok, we haven't hit rock bottom...I'm just kidding, but any little extra cash helps.
Sidenote: our bank does not take bags of coins. You have to count them yourself. Whaaaat??

$63? That buys one dinner for our family of three. Good luck with that.

And aloha means goodbye ..."
For some reason, I feel really sad about you guys leaving Hawaii. Almost exactly one year after we left, I am down to one Hawaii dream a week. And by "Hawaii dream" I mean "Billy and I frolicking in the gentle surf." Leslie, I'm sure you're there somewhere, but Billy and I can't see you through all the splashing.
As it sounds like you guys are ready to hit the road, I'll skip the road trip advise, except to say it will cost you exactly three times the amount of money you carefully calculated. Trust me. While a hotel might be cheap for a mid-week Vegas stay, learning the hard way about Billy's Caribbean Stud Poker addiction will not.
Anyway, have fun you guys, and welcome back to the Mainland!
If you end up in a hotel with room service, just walk the halls in the morning. You should be able to scavenge enough for breakfast AND lunch.
amaras_mom: $63 buys your family dinner? Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't take traveling advice from people who can only stay at the Grand Floridian...
mariel: forget the baby's piggy bank! you could've came again to hawaii if you would have put them into your trip bank!
jason: it's okay because I have Montana dreams all the time, and I'm pretty sure it's just Nicole in them.
john: we were just planning on ordering room service from other people's room phones and charging it to them. that usually saves on cash too.
